Scientists believe some people have a gene that hard-wires them for binge drinking by boosting levels of a happy brain chemical triggered by alcohol. The gene - RASGRF-2 - is one of many already suggested to be linked with problem drinking, PNAS journal reports. The King's College London team found animals lacking the gene had far less desire for alcohol than those with it. Brain scans of 663 teenage boys showed those with a version of the gene had heightened dopamine responses in tests. During a task designed to make them anticipate a reward, these 14-year-old boys had more activity in a part of the brain called the ventral striatum which is known to be involved in dopamine release. When the researchers later contacted the same boys at the age of 16 and asked them about their drinking habits, they found the boys with the 'culprit' variation on the RASGRF-2 gene drank more frequently. The NHS definition of binge drinking is drinking heavily in a short space of time to get drunk or feel the effects of alcohol. Reward responseLead researcher Prof Gunter Schumann explained that while this is not proof that the gene causes binge drinking, and it is likely that many environment factors and other genes are also involved, the findings help shed light on why some people appear to be vulnerable to the allure of alcohol. "People seek out situations which fulfil their sense of reward and make them happy, so if your brain is wired to find alcohol rewarding, you will seek it out. "We now understand the chain of action: how our genes shape this function in our brains and how that, in turn, leads to human behaviour. "We found that the RASGRF-2 gene plays a crucial role in controlling how alcohol stimulates the brain to release dopamine, and hence trigger the feeling of reward. "So, if people have a genetic variation of the RASGRF-2 gene, alcohol gives them a stronger sense of reward, making them more likely to be heavy drinkers." He said more work was needed to prove this theory - the study only looked at young teenage boys, making it difficult to assess a link with long-term drinking patterns. He said, in the future, it might be possible to offer gene tests to help predict which people are more at risk of alcohol abuse. The findings may also provide a way to make new drugs to block the "reward effect" some people get from drinking. In the UK, about 5,000 teenagers are admitted to hospital every year for alcohol-related reasons. Dr Dominique Florin, of the Medical Council on Alcohol, said: "Anything that adds to our understanding is useful. "It's likely that there is a genetic component to problem drinking, but that's not to say that if you have this gene you should never touch alcohol or if you don't have the gene then it will be fine for you to drink." A posting on John McAfee's blog has claimed the anti-virus software pioneer, wanted by police over his neighbour's murder, appears to have been found after weeks in hiding. The website set up by Mr McAfee after he went on the run said there was an unconfirmed report that he was apprehended on the Belize-Mexico border. The website whoismcafee.com has carried updates of Mr McAfee's progress since the murder of Gregory Faull, a 52-year-old retired American builder, on November 11. He has also taken to Twitter to promote his posts. Under the title Breaking: John captured? a post, on December 1, said: "We have received an unconfirmed report that John McAfee has been captured at the border of Belize and Mexico. "More information as it is received." But a subsequent posting on the blog, by a person claiming to be close to Mr McAfee, said there was no confirmation that he had been found. Mr McAfee has written entries describing how he has disguised himself as a beggar, a street trader and a drunken German tourist in order to watch police as they searched his Belize home. At one point he claimed he was actually hiding out on his compound on the island of Ambergris Caye. He said he set up the website to counter claims made about him by the media and the Belize authorities and to assert his innocence shortly after his disappearance. In an early post Mr McAfee said that he had given enough information to a friend to keep the website going should he be captured. Police have said they simply want to question Mr McAfee over the murder of Mr Faull, who was found dead in a pool of blood at his home. He had suffered a single gunshot wound to the head. Mr McAfee has denied he was responsible for the murder and says he went into hiding only because the Belize authorities have a vendetta against him. He believes he was the intended victim of the shooting, not Mr Faull. Mr McAfee amassed a $100m (£63m) fortune from his software business but said he lost all but $4m of it in the financial crisis. But skeptics say the polls results are being skewed by the media to form inaccurate conclusions. Experts like veteran pollster **** Morris, former Bush advisor Karl Rove, and CBN News Political Analyst John Waage say "not so fast." "Some of the state by state polls have shown a jump for Obama over Romney at a time when they were close. But a lot of people are saying, 'Wait a minute.' These polls are having a huge sampling, some say an oversampling of Democrats," Waage explained. Democratic voter turnout was historically high four years ago, but Waage says these days, pollsters are still using models for states like Ohio and fForida ba "There's no real indication that the turnout from Democrats is going to be that high this election," he said. "So if you're oversampling Democrats, these polls are going to be skewed way off toward the president and away from Mitt Romney." "The enthusiasm level is measured on things compared to 2008, where President Obama had unprecedented support from young people, from African Americans, from women voters. Those kinds of groups," Waage continued. "The turnout should be lower this time because there's disillusionment, a high unemployment in some of the urban African-American areas. Unemployment nationally is still bad after three-and-a-half years, and so that can't be good for the women's vote." Breitbart.com columnist Mike Flyyn said, over the years, he hasn't bought into the argument that the polls are wrong. But he feels this year is different. "The overwhelming majority of media polling this election employ such absurd assumptions about turnout this November that they not only misrepresent the presidential race, they are actively distorting it. I also believe it is intentional," he wrote in a recent post. Some in the media are even writing columns that Romney should throw in the towel. Waage says that's ridiculous. "We haven't even had a debate yet. There are going to be three presidential and vice presidential debates. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here," Waage said. "Romney may be a bit behind in some of these key states, but it's very close at the national level." "Give the voters time to take a look at both candidates competing against each other and see what they want to do," he added.

Just answerd, "What day in your life would you most want to relive?"The day, 50 years ago, that I came to trust Jesus as Saviour & Lord I'd heard a message on the famous verse, "Whoever wants to can be saved" $ years earlier, I'd become an atheist & felt too bad to even talk to God Gotta tell ya that story: it's hilarious The music teacher at high school was also the choirmaster at the local dry, dusty, ritualistic C of E parish church, that ran the primary school I'd gone to - just 1/2 mins walk from our house He was very proud that every choir he'd ever run was a prizewinning one His pay structure meant that, as a soloist, I was paid more than adult non-soloists, so I kept quiet @ the atheism induced by their bowing to statues I would pull tongues at the statues, thinking in my child mind that proved God was dead But, at age 10, thru constant news of bigger & bigger bombs, worse & worse crime, I developed the most awful, Gareth Gates style stutter I tokk 3 whole breaths just to answer the school register One day, I came late to choir practice & he chose to make fun of my stutter That got my red haired Irish up & I came out with the worst mouthful of bad language I'd ever come out with In church In waht they wrongly said was God's house - (The Bible is clear that God's Spirit lives in the hearts of all who love & trust Him, not in buildings made by man) He said, "How would you like me to take you by the ear, haul you to the vicar & make you repeat that?" I was sensitive @ having big ears It was thru being bullied aboiut them. my then fuzzy red hair & then freckles that made me learn MMA So I told him what I'd do to him if he tried it, turned on my heel with a 2-dingers salute to the whole crowd & stalked out, head held high When I told mum & dad & said I'd never set foot in there again, I was amazed aty their reaction "Son, we've been concerned about you for some time: that church doesn't preach the truth of the Bible - we'll all leave & go to a real, true church that does trust in God & take Him at His Word"
